The 11th Street Bridge Park and the National Park Service present the ninth annual Anacostia River Festival, a premier event of the 2023 National Cherry Blossom Festival. Join us at this FREE family-friendly event as we celebrate Breaking New Ground: 100 Years of Innovation at the Anacostia Park on May 20, 2023.

Festival Activities

This FREE family-friendly event will reconnect you to the river and the outdoors as you celebrate 100 Years of Innovation with us and our friends.

In Anacostia Park

All activities are FREE. Reservations and water safety waivers must be completed before participating in either activity. Both can be obtained from the River Activities tent located on the festival grounds.

Free Fishing Workshop

Let’s reel it in at the Anacostia Park! Friends of Anacostia Park (FOAP) will be hosting free fishing workshops. All gear, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle, will be provided by and staff will be on hand to instruct and help anglers new and old.

*minors must be accompanied by an adult.

River fun doesn’t end at fishing…

Free Canoe Ride

Join the Anacostia Watershed Society for a canoe ride of the river! You will have the opportunity to witness some of the river’s wildlife and learn how the river has rebounded over the past decade. This is a family-friendly activity open to all ages with no prerequisite skills required.
